Short answer for dealers: the "best" e-bike is not the one with the biggest number on the spec sheet. It is the one you can import without a customs surprise, warranty without an argument, and still be servicing in three years. Judge the supplier on four things: approval, documentation, spare parts and margin.
The four checks that actually predict profit
- Approval that matches your market. An e-bike sold as an EPAC must meet the 25 km/h pedal-assist cut-off and the rated continuous power limit for your country. If the supplier cannot produce the declaration of conformity and the test report per model, you are the one who will be asked for them.
- Battery documentation. UN 38.3 test summary, cell origin, BMS spec. This is what your freight forwarder and your insurer will ask about first.
- Spare parts, priced and stocked. Ask for the parts catalogue and lead time before you ask for the price list. A bike you cannot get a controller or a brake lever for is a warranty cost you have not priced.
- Margin after landed cost. Compare on delivered cost per unit, not FOB. Freight, duty and the cost of holding spares change the ranking.

How to test a supplier before you commit
- Buy one sample. Ride it for two weeks, then strip it. Look at the welds, the harness routing, the battery mount.
- Ask for the complaint log. A supplier who cannot name their top three warranty failures has not been shipping long enough, or is not telling you.
- Check who holds stock in Europe. A container that takes 50 days is fine for repeat orders and useless for a customer waiting on a part.
- Confirm the entity you are contracting with. The brand on the frame and the legal entity on the invoice should both be clear before you wire money.
